Hope, East Hope City Information
Hope and the East Hope are the town located on the northern east of Lake Pend Oraille. Behind the town, the Eagan mountain shows its beautiful form of the mountain, in front of the town, Warren Island the really small island is on the Lake Pend Oreille. The view from the Eagan Mountain looks like so beautiful.
Near here in 1809, David Thompson built the first fur-trading post in the Pacific Northwest. Hope is in Bonner County on the north shore of Lake Pend Oreille on Hwy 200, the Lake Pend Oreille Scenic Byway.

Directions:
Take Idaho 200 State Highway east from Sandpoint to Hope. Just west of Hope take Old Highway 200 up the hillside. Take the road that turns up the hillside just west of the Hope Post Office and school. This road is very narrow and steep. It zig zags up the hill and ends on a bench. The cemetery is nestled between homes.

Hotel Hope
Hotel Hope was built on a steep hillside, overlooking Lake Pend Oreille in 1897. On the outside the second story of each bay has two pairs of double-hung sash windows and in addition, the east bay contains a segmental arched door centered between the window pairs. The first three floors have almost solid glass fronts with identical large-paned windows filling the area from the ceiling to about two feet above the floor. Upstairs, the original room configuration remains in the east, and center bays with twelve rooms. All three sections have the original stamped metal ceilings. In addition the center section contains the original wooden bar.
